Kerry hurlers keep marching on as they chalked up their fourth successive League victory with an away win over Wicklow at Arklow on Saturday.
This Kerry team has quite a number of skilful hurlers but unquestionably centre-forward Shane Conway stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Conway was again on song, sinking a gallant Wicklow side with his scoring feats from frees, ten of his 12 points coming from placed balls and another from a '65. Indeed, he has top-scored in every League game, bringing his total thus far to 32 points.
Conway, who alternates between midfield in different matches, and impressive corner-forward Michael Slattery gave Kerry an early two-point lead with the wind behind them, but Wicklow were scrapping for everything and Andy O'Brien twice cut the margin to a point in the first 10 minutes. But Kerry settled after that, surging forward in waves. Conway kept clipping over the points as they led by 0-14 to 0-6 at the break.
Turning over to play with the wind, Wicklow had a tonic start as Pádraig O'Toole kicked the sliotar to the net. But any hopes Wicklow may have had of a surprise win were dashed when Jason Diggins goaled on 45 minutes.
