Conlon strike key to Kilburn coronation
London SHC final: Kilburn Gaels 1-16 Robert Emmetts 0-14
Kilburn marked their 20th anniversary in style at Ruislip, where they thwarted three-in-a-row-chasing Robert Emmetts.
The North Londoners never trailed in a stop-start decider, with captain Stephen Lambert's six points from placed balls and Sean Conlon's goal in first-half added time putting daylight between the sides.
Kilburn led 0-5 to 0-1 after 12 minutes but then found themselves under the cosh, only to be let off the hook by errant Emmetts shooting. And the defending champions were punished for their profligacy in first-half added time when Sean Conlon weaved in from the left wing and found the net from close range.
Conlon's maximum gave Kilburn a 1-8 to 0-5 interval lead but the introduction of Limerick native Eoin Chawke sparked an Emmetts fightback as his six points from frees made it a one- score game in injury time.
However, points from Fergal Collins and Adam Murphy clinched a third senior title for Kilburn.
