Damian Casey starred as Tyrone swept to victory over off-colour Donegal in Letterkenny on Saturday.
These teams had been involved in an epic league play-off tussle, with Donegal winning a replay to stay up in Division 2B, but Mattie Lennon's Red Hands turned the tables, led by the excellent Casey.
Donegal started well and were two in front after ten minutes, with a 70-metre free by Lee Henderson the highlight.
Centre-forward Casey bagged the game's only goal in the 13th minute when he fired past Dylan Laverty at the near post to put Tyrone in front.
Conor Grugan extended the lead, but Donegal hit four points in a row to draw level, only for Casey to shoot Tyrone into a half-time lead.
With Casey, Crugan and Kelly all influential, Tyron took command, but Henderson pulled Donegal right back into it.
Casey steadied the Tyrone nerves and when Donegal's Sean McVeigh did manage to get a shot on goal, it was Casey who intervened to block. Donegal had captain Joe Boyle sent off late on.
