Clare withstand late Tipperary onslaught to set up Fenway Classic final with Galway
CLARE 50 TIPPERARY 45

CLARE withstood a late barrage from Tipperary to seal their place in this evening’s AIG Fenway Classic final against Galway.
Five ahead and over the allotted 20 minutes, goalkeeper Donal Touhey saved three times from Noel McGrath on consecutive penalty corners.
Tipp played the last ten minutes with 10 men after Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher was red carded for a second yellow by referee, Alan Kelly.
Clare went ahead thanks to two five pointers from Peter Duggan but Conor Kenny, who was recently recalled to the squad by Michael Ryan, hit to three-point goals for Tipperary.
Clare went 18 points (50 to 32) ahead in the second half but despite their numerical disadvantage, Tipp came storming back, with John McGrath scoring 16 points.
Duggan finished the game with 25 points as Touhey’s three late interventions denied Tipp.
