Rossies turn tables on Kildare in shock victory

Roscommon stunned holders Kildare in Athleague - 12 months after losing to them by 26 points.

Leading 0-8 to 0-7 up at half-time, the Rossies had Peter Kellehan sent off and were three points down with two minutes to play - Jack Sheridan got the Kildare goal - but produced a heroic rally. Cathal Dolan's 12 points were key.

Cormac O’Doherty scored 2-9 as Derry pulled off a surprise at Portaferry.

With Sé McGuigan also raising a green flag, the visitors led 3-9 to 1-5 at the break, and there was no way back for Down.

Wicklow 4-12   Donegal 1-15

Gary Hughes netted a hat-trick as Wicklow defeated Christy Ring debutants Donegal in Letterkenny.

Donegal led 1-6 to 0-2 as Lee Henderson hit the net, but Wicklow stormed back through Hughes. They were just two behind – 1-7 to 1-5 – at the changeover and they stormed into the driving seat as Hughes and sub Jonathan O’Neill scored goals.
