It was a case of slaughter in the sun at Kingspan Breffni Park as Mullahoran won their first title in four years.

The Longford-border side had it all too easy with their superior skills allied to their greater physical strength making for an all-conquering display.

On a perfect day for hurling, defending champions Cootehill were a poor shadow of their normal selves and were in trouble from the get-go.

A goal in the fourth minute by Michael Carr had the winners-elect on the road to victory. Carr goaled again in the 17th minute to make it 2-6 to 0-2.

Despite points from Diarmaid Carney and Fiachra Hughes, Cootehill looked down and out as they slumped to a 0-2 to 2-9 half-time deficit.

Mullahoran's third goal arrived in the 44th goal from dual star Philip Brady after sloppy defence by the Celts, making it 3-14 to 0-2.

Cootehill made a fight of it in the last quarter but Adam Mulcahy bagged a fourth goal for Mullahoran, who will face Tyrone champions Naomh Colmcille in the Ulster JHC first round.
