Defending champions Kilkenny hit Offaly for six points during a busy opening nine minutes and, after that, their task at Nowlan Park was easy as they sailed into the Leinster MHC semi-finals.

Top scorer and free-taker, Edmund Delaney, who finished with 10 points, hit the target four times early on, and Offaly conceded the first goal in the 22nd minute when Sean Buggy set up James Bergin to give the Cats a 1-14 to 0-4 half-time lead.

After the break a similar pattern continued, with Sean Buggy's third goal for Kilkenny ending the game as a contest.
