Carlow show Maynooth no mercy as they get back on track
IT Carlow 9-24 Maynooth Univ 1-3: Fitzgibbon Cup
IT Carlow showed Maynooth no mercy as they got their Fitzgibbon Cup campaign back on track.
Although the 45-point winning margin won't be enough to progress from the group if they fail to beat Mary I in their final group game next Tuesday.
Their rout started early with four points from Kilkenny's Aidan Fogarty helping them to 0-17 to 0-1 lead at half-time. The goals then came thick and fast.
Corner-forward Chris Bolger from Kilkenny helped himself to a hat-trick, captain Ian Byrne netted twice in the third quarter as Carlow led by 4-19 to 1-2 at the three-quarter stage. Jack Fagan added 1-6 from play as Stephen Maher, Kevin Kelly and Martin Kavanagh all found the net.
