Michael O'Callaghan scored two first-half goals to set Sligo champions Calry/St Joseph's on their way to victory against a well-fancied Fullen Gaels in Birmingham.

Fullen Gaels had the wind in the opening half, but they couldn't cut back the lead which came from the early goals from O'Callaghan. Shane Jennings kept his side in the match, though, with three frees to leave the score at the break 2-4 to 0-4 to the Sligo side.

The Sligo and Connacht champions never looked in danger against a battling Fullen Gaels on the day. Centre-back Keith Raymond controlled the game and scored six points as his side dominated proceedings in the second-half, with four out of the five scores for Fullen Gales coming from frees.

That ensured the Sligo men always held the lead throughout the match. Calry/St Joseph's came up against the same opposition back in 2012, narrowly losing, so this victory was made even sweeter.
