Kildare are taking the league by storm after winning their second league match on Saturday, only allowing Warwickshire to score one point as captain Brian Byrne had another impressive performance, scoring 3-9.
Manager Chris Brough and the Warwickshire players who had survived last year's colossal defeat knew they were in for a big challenge and so it provedm as history repeated itself at Páirc na hÉireann. From the throw-in it soon became clear that David Herity's men were in no mood for mercy.
Within minutes Kildare had points from Shane Ryan and Niall Ó Muineacháin. An early goal from Burke would put the Lilies ahead 1-3 which was topped up with a fusillade of frees from Byrne, as well as an impressive sideline point.
Warwickshire would finally see a point after 15 minutes coming from Luke Hands but it was not enough to catch up with the Lilies, who led by 2-12 to 0-1 at half-time as Anthony Hands saw red for Warwickshire.
Though Warwickshire came out stronger in the second half, Byrne went on to score two more goals, while Warwickshire goalkeeper Phil Crean stopped numerous shots.
