Burke pride at St Brigid's fightback
St Brigid's 0-19 St Colman's 1-13
Galway captain David Burke hailed the resilience of St Brigid's, Loughrea after they came from five points down to book a place in the Croke Cup semi-finals.
All-Star Burke is helping to guide the fortunes of St Brigid's but they were in trouble against St Colman's, Fermoy before winning the remainder of the quarter-final by 0-11 to 0-3.
Ahead by 0-9 to 0-8 at the break, St Colman's were boosted by Jake Mehigan's goal just seconds after the restart, followed by Adam Creed's point.
But Conor Molloy, younger brother of Galway senior and 2016 U-21 team captain Brian, was accurate on frees, while Dylan Towolawi, Ronan Glennon and Donal Mannion made other vital contributions.
Next up for St Brigid's is a weekend showdown with St Kieran's, the famed Kilkenny nursery aiming to secure a fourth successive All-Ireland title.
Harty Cup runners-up St Colman's had an eight-point contribution from midfielder Diarmuid Lenihan, but struggled to cope with St Brigid's in the second half on UL's 4G surface.
Burke said: "We showed some character to come back from five points down - but they're doing that all year."
