Dublin hurling has been dealt a huge blow after Alan McCrabbe confirmed that he has will not play for Dublin in 2015.
The 2009 All Star winner from the Craobh Chiaráin club cited family and work commitments for his decision.
The loss of McCrabbe represents another blow to Ger Cunningham who has already lost the services of Stephen Hiney to retirement.
“Obviously it’s very disappointing and a major blow to lose a player of Alan’s caliber,” Dublin selector Gearóid Ó Riain told the Irish Daily Mirror.
“But we fully understand and respect Alan’s reason for opting out of the panel for this year. Being an inter-county player involves a very heavy commitment for lads in terms of time and the onerous demands that are placed on them, and Alan just decided that he couldn’t continue in that vein for any longer.”
