Unless you’re from Kilkenny, the Leinster final in Croke Park a month ago was probably the most forgettable championship match anyone has attended in years.

The sense of disappointment and frustration among Galway supporters was palpable. Hopes were high of a new era under Henry Shefflin, but so insipid and uninspiring was the performance, that there were few if any positives to take back across the Shannon.
