Anthony Daly could be on the cusp of a return to inter-county management with his native Clare.

According to RTE, Daly, who captained the Banner to All-Ireland triumphs in 1995 and 1997, has formed a proposed backroom team that includes former team mate Brian Lohan and Tipperary's 2001 All-Ireland winning captain Tommy Dunne.

Having previously managed his native county between 2004 and 2006, Daly will definitely feel as though there is some unfinished business to attend to.

Gerry O’Connor and Donal Moloney, the managerial team that guided the Banner to three successive All-Ireland titles from 2012 to 2014, are also understood to be in the running.

A final decision on Davy Fitzgerald's replacement is likely to be made at the October meeting of the Clare County Board.
