'He has strong athletic qualities' - Clermont coach impressed as Michael Murphy gets brilliant singsong welcome from French fans

Michael Murphy's physical qualities always looked like they could transfer well to rugby - and the Donegal star looks right at home as he begins his stay with French giants Clermont.

As part of The Toughest Trade, rugby legend Shane Williams came to play with Murphy's club, Donegal champions Glenswilly, while the two-time All-Star travelled to France to try his hand at a new sport.

Murphy is training with the European heavyweights this week, and appears to have taken to rugby pretty well so far.

Clermont shared some photos and videos of Murphy integrating into the squad, while head coach Franck Azema had plenty of praise for the All-Ireland winner.

"Michael Murphy has some strong athletic qualities and good kicking ability," Azema said.

It will be interesting to see what position Murphy is placed in, but Clermont fans have already warmed to their new recruit, brilliantly serenading him with one of their club songs.
