WICKLOW football boss Harry Murphy has become the latest senior inter-county manager to step down.

The Rathnew man succeeded Mick O'Dwyer in late 2011 and has been in charge for the past three seasons.

He had previously managed his home club to the Leinster title in 2001 and led Rathnew to seven county titles, including a four in-a-row from 2000-2003.

Wicklow finished third in Division Four of the league this year. They lost heavily to Laois in the preliminary round of the Leinster championships, beat Offaly heavily in the first round of the 'A' section of the All-Ireland qualifiers but bowed out, in the second round, to Sligo, by just two points, in Aughrim.
