Waterford player urges depression sufferers to seek help
Waterford dual star Wayne Hutchinson has become the latest GAA player to speak publicly about his battle with depression.
And the current Waterford senior football panellist has encouraged others to seek professional help if they find themselves in a similar situation.
Hutchinson (29) is a three-time county SHC medallist with his club Ballygunner and the holder of two Munster SHC medals with his county.
Selected extracts from an emotive blog, penned by the player himself, are published in today's Irish Independent.
Hutchinson reveals how he was clinically diagnosed with depression at just 18 years of age.
And with searing honesty, he outlines how, when at his lowest, he planned to take his own life in a forest close to his home.
