The Mayo squad held a vote on whether they had confidence in current management team led by Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly and the majority have gone against them.

There has been speculation about disquiet in the ranks of the Mayo players and an exasperated tweet from Aidan O'Shea following their defeat to Dublin got tongues wagging.

He wrote: "Logic & @MayoGAA rarely go together."

Three days later, the Mayo squad voted on whether they had confidence in the management and team captain Keith Higgins and vice-captain Cillian O'Connor have informed Holmes and Connelly of the result.

The chances of the current management, who have been in place for a year, continuing into 2016 now looks remote.

Mayo won a historic fifth Connacht title in a row this year before losing out to eventual All-Ireland champions Dublin after a replay in their All-Ireland semi-final.
