Laois maintained their 100 per cent record in NFL Division 4 with a hard-fought win over Waterford in O'Moore Park last night.

The teams were level on six occasions over the opening 45 minutes of play, but Laois finally hit a rich vein of form in the second half to wrap up their third win from three games.

Waterford started well and a brilliant pass from Conor Murray set up JJ Hutchinson for a superb goal in the 17th minute. Laois' response to going behind was impressive, as they rattled off three points on the spin to draw level, the pick of them from Paul Kingston, before GaryWalsh (free) and Ross Munnelly ensured they led 0-8 to 1-4 at the break.

The second half remained close for much of the opening exchanges, with Gary Walsh and Jason Curry exchanging scores, but Laois eventually broke the Waterford resistance. A run of six points without reply, led by Walsh and the returning Donie Kingston left Waterford with too much to do.
