Joe Brolly went full Brolly at half-time of Dublin’s All-Ireland semi-final with Mayo, labelling the opening 35 minutes as ‘a pile of shite’.

There had been high hopes for the final four clash, with Croke Park hitting its capacity for the first time this summer. But despite two star forward lines, the opening half failed to fire, and the RTÉ pundit was blunt in his assessment of the affair.

“If this was Tyrone and Monaghan we would be calling it a pile of shite, which is what it is,” he said.

Dublin lead Mayo by 1-7 to 0-7 at half time, with an early Diarmuid Connolly penalty proving the difference at the break. The Sunday Game panel have been criticised by the GAA in recent weeks for their outspokenness.
