Tralee CBS had to withstand a tremendous fightback from PS Sliabh Luachra Rathmore in the second half of this cracking semi-final at Fitzgerald Stadium with extra-time required to settle this all-Kerry clash.

But it was the 'Green' who eventually came good with Conor Hayes and Kerry McGrath Cup marksman Sean Quilter getting the crucial scores to earn a meeting with county rivals St Brendan's in the final.

Tralee held a slender 0-4 to 0-3 lead at the 20th minute, thanks to Fergal O'Brien and a superb advanced mark from Conor Hayes, while Rathmore responded with points from substitute Tommy Bowler and James Darmody after a poor Devon Burns kick-out.

O'Brien then blasted the ball to the Rathmore net in the 24th minute to move the Green 1-8 to 0-3 in front, but having played with the aid of a stiff wind.

Rathmore were battling hard and Cathal Ryan (brother of Kerry 'keeper Shane) stopped the rot with a free before rattling the Tralee net in the 29th minute. But the Green struck for 1-1 in injury-time, Cian Purcell bursting through for a goal that saw Tralee CBS lead 2-9 to 1-4 at the interval.

Rathmore resumed a transformed side and with the wind to their backs - they outscored Tralee CBS 0-10 to 0-2 in the second half.

But Tralee dominated the final 15 minutes of the second half of extra-time to secure their place in the February 22 decider.
