These former rivals bumping into each other in Brazil shows that you can never escape the GAA

Every summer there are a large number of GAA players who opt out of inter-county football to take some time off and go travelling.

Given the amount of hours players put into training and playing games, you can't begrudge someone for deciding to take a few months off to unwind, but as this picture shows, you might leave the GAA, but the GAA will never leave you.

Niall Geraghty and John Keegan matched up against each other two years ago in the Leinster championship, playing for Offaly and Longford respectively. The duo clashed robustly as Longford edged their provincial rivals 0-19 to 0-15.

Their counties played again yesterday, and both men wished to watch the game on their travels. As luck would have it, the duo were staying in the same hostel in Brazil, and enjoyed a catch-up as Offaly avenged their 2014 loss.

This Instagram post from Geraghty perfect illustrates why you will always see a GAA jersey at The Masters or the Melbourne Cup - you just can't escape Ireland's national sport no matter where you are in the world.
