Shorten on the double

Dls macroom 3-10
West Clare 1-3

New boys on the block West Clare Colleges were put to the sword by a rampant De La Salle, Macroom in Rathkeale.

The Cork side led by 2-6 to 0-0 after 20 minutes and, while Eoghan Donnellan notched two points for the Clare side, one from a free, Man of the Match Ben Shorten had the last point of the half to put his side 2-7 to 0-2 ahead at the interval.

Shorten struck a superb goal five minutes into the game when he raced in from the touchline and, from an angle, cracked the ball to the net. He then created his side's second goal for Sean O'Sullivan.

Shorten got his second 16 minutes into the second half, four minutes after Conor McNellis had goaled for the losers.
