Seanie Johnston has been recalled to the Cavan senior football panel for the first time since his return to his native county from Kildare.

The skillful corner-forward has not played for the Breffni men since 2011, following the transfer saga that saw him transfer to the St Kevin's club in Kildare and play two seasons with the Lilywhites under Kieran McGeeney.

Jonhston returned to Cavan Gaels in September 2013 and Cavan boss Terry Hyland has confirmed that Johnston was back with his native county.

"We have brought in eight or nine lads, Seanie is one of those," Hyland told the Irish Sun.

"It's is up to Sean now.

"He wouldn't have played with a lot of the players on the panel now so he has to prove himself to them as well."
