Schutte on target to help Colaiste Eoin sail through

A dominant Colaiste Eoin had 11 points to spare over a disappointing Dundalk Schools at Sean Moore Park, Ringsend, yesterday afternoon.

Dundalk Schools opened the scoring through a third-minute Patrick Reilly free but two frees from captain Sean Mac Craith soon had the Stillorgan side ahead, only for the impressive Niall Hearty to level matters with the first score from play after 26 minutes.

Colaiste Eoin dominated first-half possession and a Mark Schutte goal on the stroke of half-time helped the Gaelscoil to a 1-3 to 0-2 interval lead.

It was one-way traffic in the second-half as Schutte and Padraig O Dalaigh pointed early on to leave six points between the sides.

On 46 minutes, the game was effectively over when substitute Alex O Maolmhuaigh rose highest on the edge of the square to punch home O Dalaigh's inviting cross-field ball.

Dundalk Schools refused to throw in the towel but two sublime points from Schutte ensured the Dublin side a merited place in the semi-finals.
