Ryan on the mark to end CIT's hopes

A SECOND-half blitz of scoring saw Waterford book their place in the quarter-finals yesterday.

The sides were evenly matched in the early stages and Cork IT led by two points following Conor Cusack's goal on 19 minutes. However, they were overly reliant on the free-taking of Patrick Horgan to keep them in touch.

This goal seemed to stir Waterford into life and they took over afterwards with Shane Walsh and Maurice Shanahan helping Waterford lead by two at the break.

The second half was all one-way traffic and Waterford, aided by a goal from Thomas Ryan put some daylight between themselves and the students. Waterford now go on to face IT Tralee.
