RTE opt for Maloney
RTE have once again overlooked Brian Carthy and handed the radio commentary duties for next weekend's eagerly awaited All-Ireland football final clash between Dublin and Kerry to Darragh Maloney.
It will be Maloney's first time taking the microphone for a senior championship decider in either code.
Marty Morrissey commentated on last Sunday's hurling decider.
In the wake of Micheal O Muircheartaigh's departure at the end of last season, RTE opted to share duties among a number of its team, including Carthy.
There was controversy earlier in the summer when a number of high-profile managers, including Mickey Harte and Kieran McGeeney, refused to give interviews to the station over what they felt was the unfair treatment of Carthy by RTE.
Maloney is well established as a GAA broadcaster and also presents the station's flagship football show Premier Soccer Saturday.
As with the hurling final, Ger Canning will be on commentary duty for television coverage of the final next weekend.
