Despite a strong second-half performance by London, the result was never in doubt in this preview of the forthcoming championship meeting between the sides at a sun-kissed Páirc Seán MhicDiarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, yesterday.

Leitrim dominated the first half with goals by James Rooney in the 20th minute followed by a converted penalty by Emlyn Mulligan on 31 minutes to give the home side a 2-11 to 0-5 half-time lead.

London introduced Cathal óg Greene, Philip Butler and Kieran Hughes at half-time and along with Mark McGirr who replaced the injured Mark Gottsche some minutes earlier, the changes had an immediate impact.

Leitrim failed to produce the intensity of the first period as London converted a sequence of excellent points from play.

The home side seemed content to sit on their large lead as London had the better of the exchanges in the closing stages, scoring six unanswered points.
