Relegation blow for mayo

FORMER champions Mayo were relegated from Division 1 of the Bord Gais Energy Ladies National Football League after losing a crunch basement battle against Tyrone yesterday.

Last year's beaten All-Ireland finalists scored a crucial 3-10 to 3-8 victory against the Westerners at Eskra to ensure their top flight spot.

Laois, Galway or Kildare will join Mayo in Division 2 next year and if results go their way, Tyrone could yet secure fourth place in the table and a place in the semi-finals.

In Division 2, goals from Caroline Reen and Mags O'Donoghue helped Kerry to a 2-15 to 1-10 victory over Waterford in Dungarvan.

Wicklow fired themselves into the top four in Division 3 with a 4-11 to 4-10 victory against fellow challengers Leitrim.

In Division 4, Cliodhna McHugh bagged four goals for Roscommon as they defeated Antrim by 5-24 to 1-3 to remain second in the table behind Westmeath.
