Red-hot Ross fires Pat's through

St Pat's face Colaiste Eoin in the final after Colm O'Rourke's side breezed past holders St Mary's in Saturday's replay at Cusack Park, Mullingar.

Second-half goals from the two Fiachra's -- Ross and McEntee -- were key to this landslide success as St Mary's had no answer to their second-half surge, despite a top-class showing from midfielder Sean Hurley.

As in the drawn encounter, St Pat's were the better side in the opening period and deserved their 0-7 to 0-5 half-time lead with Shane Barry top-scoring in the half with three points from frees.

St Mary's relied heavily on Sean Hurley for scores and he popped over three frees to keep the holders in touch. Phillip Foy and Daniel Flynn also got on the scoresheet for the Offaly school but they hadn't the same fluency as a fortnight ago.

Entering the final quarter, St Mary's got themselves level on 0-8 apiece, but when Ross netted on 48 minutes the tie swung in St Pat's favour and McEntee copper-fastened the success late on.
