A farcical contest saw four-goal Kildare record their second win in the O'Byrne Cup in a cruelly one-sided affair in Hawkfield.

Kildare 4-24 IT Carlow 0-1

Unfortunately for both managements, players and the few brave souls who supported the fixture, when David Slattery added a goal after a minute to Ben McCormack's point this game was effectively over.

Kildare racked up 2-14 in the first half with Cathal McNally scoring their second goal in the 29th minute. Despite Carlow centre-back Eoin Buggie opening the second-half scoring with their only point, Kildare kicked back into gear with an unanswered 2-10. With strong displays from McCormack and McNally, Kildare were rampant. A Neil Flynn goal in the 40th minute was followed by a final goal from Tommy Moolick in the 57th minute.
