Pat Spillane wants to become the next Kerry U-21 football manager after Darragh Ó Sé's departure from the position in the wake of their fifth successive defeat in the grade to Cork.
Spillane (above) says he wants to give something back to Kerry football and feels the now vacant U-21 position is an ideal way to do that.
He acknowledges that he will never manage at senior inter-county level but has expressed strong interest in replacing fellow Kingdom legend Ó Sé.
Ó Sé's Kerry U-21 teams have lost in three successive years to Cork.
"I'd be very interested. I was interested in it last year. I want to give something back," said Spillane, an eight-time All-Ireland winner.
Spillane managed Kenmare to their first Kerry U-21 title in 29 years last year.
