O'Sullivan thwarts treble bid
Clonakilty CC 0-11
St Malachy's, Castlewellan 0-8
Clonakilty swept to victory at Croke Park to claim the All-Ireland Vocational Schools U-18 title and deny Castlewellan a third successive success.
The Cork students led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the break, having powered into a four-point lead with three scores from Cork U-21 player Rory O'Sullivan.
The Ulster champions recovered from a shaky start to register points through Conor Doyle, Darragh O'Hanlon and Nathan Smith.
However, they needed a superb save from goalkeeper Christopher Turley to deny O'Sullivan and limit the deficit to three.
Three O'Hanlon scores brought the Co Down college back into contention, and Martin Devlin brought them level.
But the Munster champions regained control, and Turley had to produce two more excellent saves to deny Colin Smith and Barry O'Mahony.
Clonakilty, though, finished the job off with late scores from Smith, James Davis and Killian Cullinane.
