O'Riordan set for AFL debut with Sydney Swans
Three years of blood, sweat and tears have paid dividends for Colin O'Riordan as the former Tipperary football star is set to make his AFL debut with the Sydney Swans this weekend.
O'Riordan feels the "hard work has paid off" having been named in the squad for Sunday's Round 17 game against North Melbourne at the Etihad Stadium.
"To be able to run out for my debut is something I've wanted to do ever since I came here," O'Riordan said. "That's what I've come to Australia to do and all the hard work has paid off."
Elsewhere, Roscommon boss Kevin McStay has rewarded Cathal Compton and Fintan Cregg with starts for tomorrow's 'Super 8s' clash with Tyrone at Croke Park (5.0) having impressed off the bench against Armagh last Saturday.
Seanie McDermott and Peter Domican lose out, while Clare's hurlers keep faith with the side that fell to Cork in the Munster final for tomorrow's All-Ireland quarter-final with Wexford.
