O'Neill shows his class

Antrim 2-12
St Mary's UC 0-9

A superb solo effort from debutant Dean O'Neill set Antrim on their way to victory at Casement Park on Saturday.

The home side benefited from a bizarre own goal when St Mary's 'keeper Ronan McAnenly carried the ball over his own line in the closing stages.

Antrim played with the wind in the first half and went 0-5 to 0-1 in front in the 20th minute when Terry O'Neill hand-passed over.

O'Neill then dispatched a fine 25-yard effort to the top corner on 32 minutes.

Dermott McCann got in on the act as the Saffrons took a 1-6 to 0-2 lead into the break. St Mary's improved after the restart, but Antrim held out.
