On-form Limerick Power past Banner

Limerick beat Clare at Cusack Park, Ennis last night with the help of a Cormac Joyce-Power goal.

The game looked over at half time as the Shannonsiders led 1-7 to 0-1. Clare did stage a comeback in the second half with the help of the wind, but it wasn't enough.

Limerick captain Paraic McEnery opened the first half scoring. Bobby O'Brien, Eoghan O'Connor, Joyce-Power and Shane Garry all pitched in with points, and Joyce-Power followed with the all-important goal.

Clare showed good spirit to fight back in the second half after McEnery had a penalty saved. Cathal McInerney handed the Banner men a lifeline with a converted penalty and they came to within three points of Limerick. But in the end it wasn't enough.

Tipp took a decisive lead after just four minutes when Gavin Ryan found the net after the 'keeper fumbled. Conor Sweeney added another just before the break to give Tipp a 2-2 to 0-5 half-time lead, despite playing into a strong wind.

Tipperary goaled again six minutes into the second half through a Sweeney penalty to end any hopes of a Waterford comeback. The home side does deserve credit for attempting to make a game of it but Tipp held out for the win.
