O'Connor's Kingdom flex their muscles
Kerry 1-30 Limerick 0-5
A pretty flawless display from Jack O'Connor's Kerry U-20 side in Newcastle West last night saw them beat Limerick by 28 points.
The Kingdom never looked back after registering the opening 11 points through seven different first-period scorers before Liam Kennedy finally raised a white flag for Limerick in the 17th minute.
Bryan Sweeney gave Kerry a massive platform while Cormac Linanne and Donal O'Sullivan were a constant threat. Team captain O'Sullivan set up David Shaw for Kerry's only goal in the 29th minute and they had a lead of 1-17 to 0-3 at the break.
Oran Collins hit the woodwork for Limerick as goalkeeper Mark O'Callaghan tried some forays forward but Kerry were always in command.
Both sides ran their benches, Limerick giving sub goalkeeper Cian Walsh a run late on with O'Callaghan coming off as a blood sub.
Nine different scorers for Kerry made it an impressive night's work as Stefan Okunbar and Diarmuid O'Connor had solid displays.
Kerry host Waterford in the semi-finals next Friday, the second of what they hope will be a quick run to the provincial decider on the last Friday of this month.
Worryingly for everyone else, the absence of senior panellists Sean O'Shea and David Clifford doesn't seem to be hampering them.
