Ballintubber's bid for the club’s first Mayo SFC three-in-a-row was almost derailed at their home patch in Clogher on Saturday as visitors Aghamore came close to taking their scalp.

It ended in a draw, Ballintubber 0-7, Aghamore 1-4, and combined with the stalemate (0-9 each) between Davitts and Bohola Moy Davitts, it leaves it all to play for in Group 2.

In the end the men from east Mayo came away with a precious point in a game which saw Mayo star Cillian O’Connor sent off on a straight red card 10 minutes into the second half. He was joined by Aghamore’s David Kenny who was dismissed in the same off-the-ball incident.

Castlebar Mitchels took control of Group 4 with a 1-13 to 1-9 victory over Charlestown, while the new kids on the block The Neale were surprise winners over Garrymore (1-9 to 0-11) in Group 1.

Mayo colleagues Aidan O’Shea and Lee Keegan locked horns in a thriller as Breaffy lost at home to Wesport, 0-16 to 2-11.

Fionn McDonagh, Pat Moran, Oisín McLoughlin, Pat Lambert and Kevin Keane, who scored 1-2, impressed as Breaffy, who were seven points down at one stage, came up just short.
