O'Connor quits Rebels
Cork football's off-season clear-out continues with confirmation that Alan O'Connor is the latest to retire.
Following on from the departures of Noel O'Leary, Paudie Kissane, Graham Canty, Alan Quirke and Pearse O'Neill, along with Ciaran Sheehan's decision to sign for Carlton on a two-year AFL rookie contract, O'Connor has become the seventh player to make himself unavailable in 2014 to new manager Brian Cuthbert.
O'Connor had been named in a provisional Cork squad last week, but Cork GAA has confirmed that he has retired at the age of 28.
Cuthbert may also have to wait until well into next season before Paddy Kelly and Colm O'Neill become available to him, while Aidan Walsh has taken the decision to split his time with the hurlers.
