O'Carroll sets Treaty on way to victory
Limerick's new manager Billy Lee was delighted as his side ran out winners in the first inter-county game at Rhebogue.
Limerick 2-13 Clare 2-9
Clare scored the opening two points in their McGrath Cup clash but once Limerick settled they opened a 1-5 to 0-7 interval lead as the Banner hit nine first half wides.
Limerick's goal was finished by Darragh Treacy after six players were involved in the build-up.
Their second goal came five minutes into the second half, from Seamus O'Carroll.
Clare had to wait until the 56th minute for their second point from play.
Limerick led 2-7 to 0-7 at that stage but Cian O'Dea scored a superb goal for Clare. Clare had a second goal from Eoin Cleary two minutes from the end but it was too little too late and if Limerick beat Waterford on Sunday they qualify for the final. Both sides finished with 14 players.
