A Bord na Móna O'Byrne Cup final between Meath and Westmeath in O'Moore Park in Portlaoise remains in doubt as Meath continue to resist the choice of venue.

Meath had requested that the game go ahead in Mullingar on Sunday with an earlier start rather than have it as the second game on the schedule in Portlaoise with a 4.0 throw-in.

Meath manager Andy McEntee has highlighted concerns over the potential condition of the pitch and the risk of injury involved if it remains a second game.

With adverse weather forecast, the game may be put off to a future date anyway. Leinster Council met on Wednesday but no decision was taken to switch the match to Mullingar.

They had agreed to a request from TG4 to broadcast the match live as cameras were already in place for the All-Ireland Club IFC semi-final.
