O'Brien class eases 13-man Kingdom past toothless Tipp
Kerry 0-11 Tipperary 0-5
KERRY cruised into the last four at Semple Stadium last night -- despite finishing with 13 men.
Tipperary failed to score in the second half, even though Kerry lost wing-forward Michael Brennan and midfielder James Walsh to red cards.
Brennan was dismissed for a second bookable offence nine minutes after half-time, and Walsh suffered a similar fate with five minutes remaining.
But Tipp could not capitalise on their numerical advantage as Kerry's full-forward line wreaked havoc, with Kieran Hurley, Conor Cox and Stephen O'Brien finishing with a combined tally of 10 points.
O'Brien was the star of the show with four glorious points from play in front of 1,123 spectators in Thurles.
Kerry boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice will have been pleased with the clinical nature of his team's display but for embattled Tipperary manager John Evans, this was another disappointing result coming on the back of the senior team's woes.
At half-time, Kerry led by 0-7 to 0-5 but in the early stages, it appeared that the visitors would run riot as they surged into a 0-5 to 0-0 lead within 11 minutes.
Tipp were slow to settle but they did eventually, and 2011 All-Ireland minor medallists Michael Quinlivan and Liam McGrath were threats.
There were goal chances at both ends in the early minutes as Brennan screwed a shot across the face of goal before Quinlivan shot wide in the 15th minute.
The second half produced just four points -- and all of them went Kerry's way.
