O hAilpin back in a Cork shirt
ONE famous O hAilpin brother may still be refusing to line out for Cork but another has just returned to the Rebel jersey, writes Cliona Foley.
Aisake O hAilpin lined out for the county senior footballers in midweek challenge game-- his first appearance since returning home after failing to make the grade in the AFL -- but it remains to be seen whether his comeback will be shortlived amid the footballers' threat to take strike action in support of the county's hurlers.
O hAilpin spent four years with AFL club Carlton, who still have his brother Setanta on their books.
As a former Cork minor in hurling and football, he is a great all-rounder who could still have plenty to offer. He was a member of Cork's 2003 minor side -- which also featured Fintan Goold, Michael Shields and Daniel Goulding -- which lost an All-Ireland semi-final to Dublin.
While Tadhg Kennelly's return from Oz has grabbed all the headlines, Aisake slipped back under the radar.
Cork football boss Conor Counihan stressed that he is just one of several players that they are monitoring.
