O Cathmhaoil sinks Joseph's

An opportunist goal from corner-forward Daithi Ó Cathmhaoil nine minutes into the second half was the decisive score as Coláiste Eoin from Stillorgan defeated St Joseph's in Rochfortbridge to reach the quarter-finals.

The visitors led by 0-5 at 0-1 at half-time, mainly due to some fine place-kicking from Alex O Maoilmhiaidh.

They also kicked eight wides in this opening period.

The home side failed to score from play throughout the entire game, but a free from Ian Hyland in the 34th minute left just three points between the sides. However, less than five minutes later, what seemed like an innocuous long-range shot by Roibeard Blighe was fumbled by Joseph's 'keeper Kymann Power and Ó Cathmhaoil reacted smartly to boot the ball into the unguarded net.

In the dying moments a nasty melee ended with the referee issuing a straight red to the losers' Joey Boyle.
