No win for Cork in last ten visits to Killarney
The extent of the challenge facing Cork tomorrow is underlined by their poor record in Killarney over almost two decades.
Their last championship win over Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium was in 1995 at a time when they were enjoying an unusually long period of dominance over their great rivals.
They won by three points in 1995 to clinch a Munster three-in-a-row to go with the four-in-a-row they won in 1987-'90.
However, the 1995 success marked the end of an era. Since then, Cork have failed to win any of ten championship games against Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium.
They have drawn four and lost six, which is in marked contrast to the 1987-'95 era when Cork won three times and drew once in Killarney.
Four draws from ten visits to Killarney might look like a reasonable haul but it still leaves Brian Cuthbert's squad attempting to achieve something which none of their predecessors have done for two decades.
Cork have won several league games in Killarney and Tralee in that period but have failed to repeat spring form in the bigger challenges.
