Tralee-based Na Gaeil qualified for the All-Ireland club junior final with a narrow win after extra-time at Cusack Park, Ennis on Saturday.

In a very competitive, tight encounter played in front of a crowd of 949, the Kerry outfit were marginally the better side over the entire 80 minutes. But a gallant Kilmaine side made them fight all the way for victory.

The sides were locked at 1-3 to 0-6 at the break, with the Kilmaine corner-forward Michael Hession providing the game's only goal in the 12th minute. He capitalised on a defensive error and drilled a low shot home.

Early in the second half the men from the Kingdom raced into a three-point lead.

Yet Kilmaine kept chipping away and with Adam Barrett on song from frees, they kept in touch. Barrett kicked the equaliser in injury-time to send the tie to extra-time.

Kilmaine recorded two good points through Dan Goggin and Diarmuid O'Connor in the opening half, as they sought to cement their dominance. At the beginning of the second period of extra-time Mayo substitute Jarleth McDonagh rifled over a point but alas for Kilmaine it was to be the last score of the game.
