Murray brothers help Saffrons over line
Antrim 4-10 Cavan 2-14
Antrim's footballers secured their first points of 2018 with a win over Cavan in Section A of the McKenna Cup at Woodlands, Belfast, yesterday.
By the third minute Cavan held a 1-1 to no score lead, Bryan Magee fisting the ball to the net.
But the Saffrons then found their feet and levelled. Paddy McBride bundled to the net after being set up by Conor Murray and then returned the favour for Murray to raise a green flag.
Three points without reply from the Breffni men narrowed the gap and Antrim were 2-6 to 1-6 ahead at the break.
Cavan reduced the Saffron lead within eight minutes of the restart only for Antrim to strike for their third goal, Ryan Murray joining his brother on the scoresheet.
The Murray siblings then combined for Antrim's fourth major on 57 minutes, Ryan setting up Conor to finish for a 4-7 to 1-10 lead.
Cavan's Niall McKiernan added the game's sixth goal and there was a point between the sides with two minutes on the clock, as Enda Flanagan slotted over for Cavan.
However, Ryan Murray and Magee swapped frees before McBride lofted over for Antrim in injury time.
