Mullett stars in Garden stroll
Mick O'Dwyer fielded just three of his first 15 and still Wicklow were far too good for hapless Kilkenny at Aughrim yesterday.
Niall Gaffney opened the scoring after just 30 seconds and from there on it was one-way traffic from start to finish.
Of the fringe players, corner-forward Niall Mullett, centre-forward Gaffney and wing-back Stephen Canavan, who scored three points, laid the strongest claims for regular places. Seanie Furlong fired over 10 points, seven from play, with Mullett banging over six sweet scores.
Wicklow led 1-16 to 0-2 at half-time, with Dean Odlum scoring the goal. Kilkenny improved in the third-quarter, inspired by Stephen Duggan, who scored five points.
Furlong, though, kept the hosts well ahead and sub Dean Siney added a late goal as Wicklow finished fourth in the table.
