Morrissey magic helps Tipp turn tables on Clare

TIPPERARY will play beaten Ulster finalists Tyrone in next weekend's second round of qualifiers in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies SFC.

Tipp overturned last year's qualifier defeat with a rout of Clare yesterday.

Trisha Hickey bagged 1-8, but Mairead Morrissey claimed the Player of the Match award after scoring 2-2.

Defensively, the Premier County were extremely solid against a Clare team held to just 1-3 from play.

By half-time, Tipp led 1-9 to 0-4, Hickey netting in the 23rd minute.

And Clare were rocked three minutes after the restart when Catriona Walsh fed Morrissey for a fine close-range finish.

Eimear Considine responded with a goal in the 36th minute but Morrissey was on target again in the 42nd minute.
