Laois booked a derby date with Offaly in the Leinster U-21 FC semi-final after they saw off the challenge of Louth in O'Moore Park last night.
Laois, who finished with 14 men, were comfortable winners in the end but Louth signalled their intentions early when they had the better of the opening stages, Ryan Burns rifling a shot into the top corner after five minutes.
However, the home side fought back well, taking control of the game with two goals in the eleventh minute.
First Sean Moore tapped home to an empty net after a good move, and then Colm Murphy blasted home from close range to hand Laois the initiative.
They then lost midfielder David Connolly to a straight red card midway through the half, but they were still a good value for their 2-7 to 1-4 lead at the break.
Louth needed a strong start to the second half, but even being a man down Laois were never really in any trouble.
They picked off scores at will through the outstanding Moore, and eased over the line in the end.
The O'Moore County's youngsters now meet Offaly next Wednesday night, with the game fixed for the neutral venue of Carlow's Netwatch Cullen Park.
